1. Where have we been?
We had about a six month hiatus in events recently, but are back with a
redesigned website, a great new event schedule, and a closer partnership
with the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals (www.alliancenet.org), which
is our parent organization.
A few weeks ago, we sponsored a booth at the John MacArthur event at Grace
Church in Eden Prairie, and saw many of you who have been to events in the
past. It was also a *great* opportunity to reach out to so many others who
love the richness of the Gospel. And listening to Dr. MacArthur wasn't to
bad, either. :-)
We have developed a great series that will take about two years to go
through, and it is based on the book, Christ of the Covenants, by O.
Palmer Robertson.
During 2006, you will see a number of changes as well, specifically as we
work more closely together with the Alliance. We may have one of the
Alliance Council members in for a Fall event -- we'll keep you posted!
2. Next Reformation
Society Bible Study: Saturday, February 25 @ 9am
Our next Reformation Bible Study will be held on Saturday, February 25 at
9am at Warrendale Presbyterian Church (1040 Como Avenue, Saint Paul
55103). Warrendale is approximately 2 miles north of I-94, and 2 blocks
east of Lexington Avenue on Como Avenue (just south of Como Park).
During the next two years, we will be doing a 10-part series on the Christ
of the Covenants. The first topic is "The Nature, Extent and Unity of the
Divine Covenants." The expositors will be:
* Pastor David Chanski of Providence Reformed Baptist Church in
Minneapolis
* Rev. Pat Morgan of Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Farmington
* Rev. Kim Kuhfuss of Covenant Presbyterian Church (OPC) of Roberts,
Wisconsin
We hope that you will be able to join us for this great series!
3. Radio
programs supported by the Reformation Society
We, in conjunction with local area churches, sponsor two weekly radio
programs on KKMS AM 980. The White Horse Inn starts at 8:30pm on Sunday
evenings. Below are the programs during the next three weeks:
February 12, 2006
An Overview of the Book of Romans: What is so unique about the Book of
Romans that it has had such a great impact on the church throughout
history? Tune in this week as the hosts outline the "big picture" of
Paul's letter to the Romans and discuss its incredible historical
influence. Joining the hosts again on this program is World Magazine
columnist, Gene Edward Veith.
February 19, 2006
The Gospel of God's Son: In Romans 1:16, Paul declares that he is "not
ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation." The
gospel is undeniably central to the Book of Romans. But what is the
gospel, and why is it so powerful?
February 26, 2006
The Wrath of God: When was the last time you heard a message about the
wrath of God? Is this biblical concept being downplayed by contemporary
Christians? What effect might this have on how Christians view the
suffering and death of Jesus Christ on our behalf?
Every Last Word, a weekly radio program featuring the preaching of Dr.
Philip Ryken, senior pastor of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia
(following in the footsteps of Dr. James Boice, who died in 2000),
immediately follows the White Horse Inn at 9pm on Sunday evenings. Dr.
Ryken is currently doing a series on the book of Jeremiah.
We hope you can tune in to this great hour of radio programming on Sunday
evenings!
4. Interested in getting
involved?
We are in need of a number of volunteers, particularly in the areas of
outreaches to churches and local seminaries. Please contact send an email
to John Selvestra (selvestra@usfamily.net) if you are interested in
getting involved.
God bless,
The Reformation Society of the Twin Cities
